How It Works

Meet with our Reentry Advisor

To get started, your very first step is to meet with our Degree Completion Reentry Advisor. Schedule an appointment to review how the program works, financial aid opportunities, submission requirements, and any challenges or concerns you may have for your particular application. Schedule your appointment today.

Submit your Application

When you are ready to submit your application, your Reentry Advisor is available to support you and walk you through the application process. Once the application is submitted, you are then ready to meet with your Academic Advisor and Financial Aid Advisor.

Academic Advising

During your Academic Advising appointment, your Academic Advisor will recommend which courses to register for the term you would like to return. Your advisor will guide you on how to access your My Connect Student Portal and will walk you through the registration process. Learn more about Academic Reentry.

Financial Aid Advising

During your Financial Aid Advising appointment, you will learn about your eligibility for financial aid and scholarships, and review any outstanding requirements. You will have ongoing access to personal financial planning for the duration of your time to degree completion.

Making the Commitment to Better Your Future

When you complete your advising appointments and your questions are answered, it is time to make your decision to enroll at UC Merced for your expected term of return. If for some reason you choose not to return, you can defer your reentry approval for up to one more semester. If you have additional questions, reach out to our Reentry Advisor, who is happy to meet with you.

Monitor Your Checklist

After you are approved to return, it is very important to regularly monitor your UC Merced Connect Student Portal checklist. Your checklist will provide any outstanding requirements you need to complete by the set deadlines. Certain items may include submitting official documents, such as a Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) appeal, or Statement of Legal Residence (SLR).

Register for Classes

If you have not already done so with your Academic Advisor, you will now be able to register for the courses you and your Academic Advisor planned for your first term. You may also find our How to Register for Classes video useful to review. Need help to apply? Contact our Academic Advisors who are ready to help you with any questions.

Apply to Graduate

When you have 30 or less semester units, it is time to file or refile for graduation. As you finish your final requirements for degree completion, you can meet with our Reentry Advisor for help submitting your graduation application. And then, it will be time to prepare to celebrate your persistence, hard work and amazing accomplishments!

Let's Get Started

Now that you know the process, make the first step and contact your Reentry Advisor to get started on your academic journey. From readmission to graduation, we'll be right here with you to help you succeed.
