What I wish I knew before returning to campus

Give Yourself Time

When returning to campus, it is important to give yourself time to arrive to campus and also walk to class. In my own experience, the walk from the Bellevue parking lot to the SSM building can take anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the weather. I usually tried to give myself enough time to arrive to class at least 7-10 minutes early to find a good seat and prepare before class starts.

Find Your Way

Even after a few years on this campus, I still get turned around sometimes. One tip that has helped me is taking time before the semester begins to visit each of my classrooms or lecture halls. This always works out great because, on the day of class, I know exactly where to go.

Preview the Presentations

Most classes will provide students the PowerPoint presentations before class starts. If you can, print these presentation slides and bring them to class or save them onto your laptop/tablet. You can write in the details the lecturers provide, and you can use them as study guides for the midterms and finals. In my experience, using the learning objectives from PowerPoints or even from the class syllabus was helpful when making study guides.
